Casting Call
The Critshow, an actual play TTRGP podcast, is holding auditions for future shows produced by Critshow Studios.
The Critshow launched in May 2018 with its flagship actual play podcast, in which three roleplayers play as themselves in an “Other Side of the Coin” universe using Monster of the Week and other Powered By the Apocalypse games. The associated production company, Critshow Studios, was formed in January 2019.
The Critshow has had steady and strong audience growth since launch, and as of April 18, 2024, has over 1.6 million downloads across more than 100 countries, with an evolving and expanded cast of characters.
Audition Eligibility
We are currently seeking players with TTRPG gaming, roleplaying, acting, voice over, and/or other relevant experience for upcoming projects.
We are only accepting local submissions at this time.
Our current studio is located on the East side of Indianapolis—and we request that all those auditioning are located in Indy or close enough to comfortably and realistically commute there once a week year-round for recordings. We do not record every week and we create a backlog of episodes to cover holidays, vacations, family emergencies, etc.
Critshow Studios is actively seeking submissions from all ethnicities and gender identities.
Compensation
Members of The Critshow receive a percentage of the monthly earnings, based off the tasks they undertake in the creation of monthly content. These things range from being part of a cast, GMing, editing, etc. These percentages will be discussed in more detail as part of the callback process.
In addition to this we have revenue from our twitch stream which is paid out to each member of the team—based off the number of streams they participated in that month.
We also cover cost of travel, housing, and tickets for any convention/event we attend for the podcast to either run games or perform live shows. Past conventions include GenCon, C2E2, DragonCon, Indy Popcon, Wizard World Chicago, and others.
To Audition
Round One – Video and Questionnaire
Please prepare a video which includes the following:
- Introduce yourself and tell us a little about who you are.
- Share with us about your favorite types RPGs to play in as well as run.
- Tell us about a time in a game were things went way better than they should have and about a time they went way worse.
The games we play are narrative driven, and they become a handing off of the story from the GM to the player and back again. We sit around a table, roll dice, and tell a story, so we want to see how you tell a story.
Upload your video to Google Drive, Dropbox, or another service that allows you to share it with us using a link. When you have your file ready, submit the questionnaire at the bottom of this page.
Submissions for Round One will be accepted through May 17, 2024.
Round Two – In-Person Auditions
After reviewing the submissions from Round One, we will reach out to individuals for a second round of the audition, which will involve getting together to chat in person, game a bit, and record some and see how things flow at the table.
